Can you get hemorrhoids from sitting on a warm seat?
I lived in Colombia for a couple years. While there, I noticed that when someone wanted to take a seat on a busy bus, they would stand in front of the seat for a while, pat it, wait a little longer longer, then sit down gingerly.
I asked the locals about this. Many insisted that sitting on a warm seat will give you hemorrhoids. Well, I didn’t follow their advice. Should I be worried?

no, hemorrhoids are varicose veins near the anus. The most common way you get them is by straining while going to the bathroom-and or course old age increases that factor.

No Scott B, you can’t get hemorrhoids from a warm seat. You need to do some research on the this topic.

Actually Scott, it’s just the opposite. Sitting on cold surfaces such as cement is what will give you hemorrhoids.

No – that’s silly! Hemorrhoids are caused by stress. Stress of pushing to have a BM – pregnant woman have this issue because of the pressure down there. I wouldn’t worry if I were you!

Haemmoroids are caused from straining your bowels/anus muscles. They are not contagious and aren’t caused from a warm seat

Hemorrhoids don’t develop due to sitting on a warm seat. Extended periods of sitting or standing can contribute to development of hemorrhoids due to constant pressure put on the rectal area. Other causes of hemorrhoids are overweight, pregnancy, Vitamin B6 deficiency and acid/alkaline imbalance (causing weak veins), and some diseases like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and fatigue liver. The most common cause is constipation. By some people more than one cause is present, and in our sedentary life + western diet sitting and acid/alkaline imbalance are very common.
