His anus is swollen and red. I think he is constipated and has hemorrhoids. I took him to an emergency vet. She got a small stool sample and found nothing in it. she took an x-ray and saw nothing abnormal. Im leaning towards him being constipated and having hemorrhoids. She gave me 3 prescriptions for him Amoxitabs, Metoclopromide, and Deramaxx. Hes been on the medication for 2 days. He has not ate a bite of dog food or had a bowel movement in 3 days. It will be really painful for him and infections can worsen very quickly, so please make an appointment immediately at an emergency vet (they're open 24/7). Please take him, emergency vets exist for a reason, and waiting will just be letting him suffer. This is not something that can wait. Add: frankandashley you "milk" them BEFORE they have got infected. Touch them now and you will make it worse. This dog needs professional vet care. Maybe a little neosporin would help. I used to give my dogs aspirin--but I can't remember the dose, so you could call a pharmacy. It's something like 81mg per 20" of dog. The only way to fix this malady is to milk (I'm sorry, I know) your dog's anal glands. What you do is take your dogs swollen rectum and squeeze it between you fingers like a zit. It will swell and then pop. I suggest you wear a mask as to keep any projectiles from hitting you on the face. I wish you the best of luck. P.S. All I noticed was 2 small little red cherry looking bumps. I called the vet to ask him about it & that's when he told me what they were. The orders was to put a warm rag on them & they should either 1--go back in or 2--bust. Later on when she had a bowel movement they busted & yes there was a little bleeding for a short time. Now the only other thing it could be is if it's still bothering the dog after a couple of hours than it has to be its anal glands. Dogs have a gland on each side of its anal. And when they eat a lot of bones or greasy foods the gland fill up & need to be expressed. Really they fill up regardless of what they eat it doesn't matter what kind of food. My 4.5 lb poodles has to get hers expressed every 6 weeks. If not she will start dragging her butt on the floor & nips @ it---this will drive her crazy. Call the emergency vet and schedule an appointment, this shouldn't wait until Monday when your regular vet is open. He needs antibiotics.
