If it’s bad enough it’s a good idea. Doctors can prescribe some ointment that really works wonders, however without insurance the meds are very expensive.
Try Preperation H for temporary relief. Also, take a vitamin B6 tablet every day. And finally, increase your fiber intake. If you have to, drink a cup of metamucil every night before bed.
Oh yea, sitting on the toilet too long is a great way to get a hemi.
I say you should definitely see your doctor if you have not yet been diagnosed as having such, just to be sure that you are treating the right ailment.
If you have already seen your doctor, I’m sure that he/she has advised you of what your options are, depending on how serious your hemorroids are. Some require surgical removal, others can be treated with Tucks pads or Preparation H cream.

Not really. Not unless it causes significant pain, or presents for more than a week or so.

over the counter products should work just fine for you.
