Hemorrhoid Surgery?????

I had a hemorrhoid with a blood clot and i got it surgically removed about 2 days ago. Im still in alot of pain and im afraid to use the bathroom. Im taking stool softeners and not really eating any solid foods but im just afraid its still going to be very painful. Would taking a laxative be a good idea?

Don’t rush into taking these- almost all constipation should be treatable without these. There are many treatments available for constipation including home remedies, at home treatments etc.

    Here are given some:

    1. Get plenty of regular exercise, at least twenty-thirty minutes of an exercise that makes you break a gentle sweat.Have a quick walk about once an hour.

    2. Fiber and diet is likely the most important point to develop a hemorrhoids home remedy plan on.

    3. Staying on the toilet for more than five minutes at a time may also aggravate or worsen your hemorrhoids.

    4. Appropriate toilet paper is a simple hemorrhoid home remedy.

    5. The hemorrhoid cushion is a home remedy for hemorrhoid relief that has been practiced for many years.

But sometimes, laxatives can be the best option, especially if your constipation is caused by another medicine you have to take regularly.

Even then, do try the advice above as well if at all possible.

Here’s the Catch 22. Pain killers cause constipation and possibly hard stools. I can tell you from first hand experience that the first couple of BMs after a hemorrhoidectomy are akin to giving birth to a rose bush.

Did the hospital/doctor provide you with a sitz bath basin that fits over the commode? You can buy one at most pharmacies. Fill with pleasantly warm water, place the basin on the commode, sit and go. Less painful that way.

Check with your doc before taking that laxative. Didn’t the hospital review discharge instructions with you?
