Hemorrhoids?
I was just wondering what causes hemorrhoids when you are pregnant? Is it from the pressure of carrying a baby or from pushing while giving birth? I just read a question about them and it got me to thinking? I am pregnant with my second baby and didn’t get them with my first child while I was pregnant or after I had her. Can someone please explain this to me?

There are many causes but the specific pregnancy cause you asked is caused by the fetus putting pressure on the hemorrhoidal veins.
There are both internal and external hemorrhoids. The internal rarely produce discomfort, although they can bleed.
External hemorrhoids are much more common and generally are the cause of the blood we see on toilet tissue. These are often accompanied by a soft swelling of the anus area. In most instances, hemorrhoids self-heal and medical attention is not necessary. Try to not sit on the toilet any longer than necessary since this adds undo pressure to the anal veins.

Pushing while giving birth, even pushing if you have severe constipation can cause them.
They never fully heal either unfortunately.

Yes. It’s caused from pressure of the uterus and also caused by being constipated and having to force to have a bowel movement. They are basically just twisted veins in the rectum and they are pretty painful. They usually go away once pregnancy is over but some never do. Not everyone get them. Some thing there is a genetic link to this
Good luck!

Both. I had a mild case before she was born, from the pressure of carrying her and the weight I gained, and then pushing her out made them so much worse.
They’ve calmed down in the month since I gave birth, but they’re still not completely gone. I hate them.

Pushing from giving birth or pushing really hard on a large poo can give you hemorrhoids. Your blood vessels in the rectum are thinner and more prone to break during pregnancy, which is why it is so common for pregnant women to get them. As far as I can tell, they never really go away when you do get them. Count yourself lucky that you’ve never had them yet! They are pretty painful!
Good luck and congrats!
