hemorrhoids – any home remedies for easing the discomfort?
I just gave birth on Thursday and I had the above problem during my pregnancy.
It now seems to have got worse (what with all the pushing out of baby it must put some pressure in the back area also).
So do any mums have some home remedies for this? I’m just using Anusol at the moment but I’m always interested in alternative pain relief.
Thank u

Oh, Anusol does nothing at all, well for me anyway. I find germaloids suppositories to be really effective in a short space of time. I was also getting bowel spasms so started taking fybogel to keep me regular. This stopped the pains very quickly too which were like being in labour again! Hope this helps, congratulations on the birth of your baby

An old country remedy is to shove a raw potato chip up your bum.

Tucks pads were a godsend that first week or so postpartum.

Forget Anusol…it is useless! An old remedy used to be boiling wine..then pouring it in a bucket and sitting on the bucket. The fumes off the wine was to suppose cure the ailment….However as the wine got expensive it lost favour!!!!!
The new approach is to go to your nearest pharamacy and purchase Proctesydyl or its’ cheaper generic Soove.it. It’s expensive as it contains cortisone but it works..just follow the instructions. Now you will have to watch your diet in or der not to have recurrences. Eat a lot of roughage..lots fo fruit and vegs…Weetbix for breakfast…wholegrains etc Good luck

You can try ice and also a stool softener (I had senna) so that you dont have to strain when you go. Also metamucel. When i was in hospital the midwife told me when I’m in the shower to get lots of soap or shower gel and each time to try and gently push it back up. That worked for me. Hope you recover quick whatever you decide to do.

I have used this home remedy and it got rid of mine in about 2-3 days and they haven’t returned since. Also a lot of information here that should answer most of your questions.
