But you can use the Tucks pads, which have witch hazel in them which causes the blood vessels to constrict, and that will give you some relief. Also you can take a sitz bath. My own personal approach is to have three 'sitz' baths each day; that's a few inches of warm water, sit down, wash the affected area with face soap or something gentle, and then (here's the nasty bit) add some water to a teaspoon of salt and apply it to the area. Works better than anything I've found in stores! I do this after a bowel movement, and then insert a suppository like Preparation H or your local generic drugstore brand. This ensure that you don't rip the wound and infect it, thus making it worse and more painful. Good luck!
