how much bleeding is normal when you have hemorrhoids and are constipated?
I had my son 2 months ago, and as a result from the pushing I got a hemorrhoid. I am constipated and it hurts when I poo. it feels like there is tearing when I push, and when I wipe there is blood. it wasn’t too bad the first couple of times after I had the baby, but it is getting worse. it doesn’t continue to bleed after im done wiping. I was just wondering how much blood is normal when you have a hemorrhoid?

If you get rid of the constipation, you’ll give your guts a chance to heal and then you should stop bleeding. Here are some home remedies for constipation:
get enough fluids (water is best, but you probably already know that; 6-8 glasses a day, minimum)
eat lots more fiber (20-35g of dietary fiber for all adults and at least 30 for those suffering from constipation. whole grains, fruit, vegetables. examples: 1/2 cup green peas=5g fiber. 1 small apple=3g. 1 bowl bran cereal=13g. higher in fiber are: cooked dried beans, prunes, figs, raisins, popcorn (not too salty! don’t dehydrate her or it will work against you!), oatmeal, pears, and nuts. CAUTION: increase fiber intake slowly to avoid gas attacks, which can be painful.)
exercise regularly (probably not feasible for her? but walking is best)
don’t ignore the urge to go.
relax. tension can make it worse.
have a good laugh. (massages intestines and relieves stress)
commercial laxatives are terribly addicting, so try not to use them at all.
"natural" and "vegetable" laxatives are not addicting. often they contain crushed psyllium seed. (same thing as metamucil mix)
if you’re really miserable, nothing will work faster to move things along like an enema or suppository. if you must do an enema, do only clear water or saline-solution; NEVER soapsuds. if you decide to reach for a suppository, pick up only glycerin ones.
review your medications and supplements. there are a number of meds that can bring on or exacerbate constipation, such as antacids containing aluminum or calcium, antihistamines, anti-Parkinsonism drugs, calcium supplements, diuretics, narcotics, phenothiazines, sedatives, and tricyclic antidepressants.
eat small meals to avoid distending the digestive tract.
be cautious about herbs. don’t overuse them. among those touted are: aloe (juice, not gel), senna, rhubarb (medicinal), cascara sagrada, dandelion root, plaintain seeds. if you make a tea of fennel seeds, that can help move things along too. it helps with alleviating gas as well. to a cup of boiling water, use about 10-15 seeds.
it’s important never to strain, as it can cause more serious issues.
beware of certain foods. milk, beans, cauliflower, and cabbage might harm some with a spastic colon while they have a different effect on others.
also i recommend searching for more questions here on Y! Answers under the topic "constipation" and i’m sure you’re bound to find some help!

happened to me too with my second child. i was mortified. i would say as long as its not filling up the paper its ok. but if it persists go to the doctor. be gentle when wiping, kind of dab instead of wiping. i cant believe i am writing this. wow. ask if it is ok to use cream, i think if you are breast feeding you need to be careful with that. best of luck and dont itch. i thought i was dying i was so uncomfortable, i wanted to drag my butt on the carpet like a dog. it will get better trust me.

I had my son 2 years ago and still have the worst hemorroids ever, just from carrying him. They do bleed if you are quite badly constipated. Mine can often bleed really bad and i have to wear a sanitary pad. Horrible i know!! All i can recommend is to go to your doctor so he/she can look at them. Extremley embarrasing i know but to be honest, hemmoroids can be very dangerous. They can clot or already have clots in them which can shift and go to your brain or heart and you could die. Its not very common but because you had your baby not long ago, id go just for peace of mind.
Have you tried soaking a sanitary pad or tissues in witch hazel? That can help them go down. Also try pushing them back inside (i never can). I find that by putting my feet up often and not walking or standing for long that helps them stay at bay. You can get cream which has pain relief in it which is amazing stuff. Good luck x0x

A lot of blood is normal. A hemorrhoid is basically a swollen blood vessel in your anus.
Are you using anything to treat it? I recommend the Preparation H suppositories and witch hazel wipes. Make sure to tuck a couple sheets of TP between your cheeks if you use the suppositories because when you pass gas it leaks nasty oily stuff. If it doesn’t get better in a few days, go see the doctor. I was told they have a prescription cream that puts Preparation H to shame.

I don’t bleed all the time, but when i do it changes the color of the water in the toilet. When i am done it looks almost like i poured kool aide or something in there. When i am done with my “business” it stops. I am just wondering if that is too much bleeding. I am a guy, but it only seems to occur about once a month.

Hi ( space ) superior web site:Deb simply looking around certain web sites:Deborah looks quite a wonderful stand you’re making use of. I’m at the moment implementing Hubpages for a few connected with our blogs and forums although wanting to switch one particular over to your foundation similar to the ones you have as a trial run go.
