I have a horrible hemorrhoid, please help. TMI.?
I have a history of hemorrhoid’s, I guess you could say. I went to the doctor for a while complaining about problems (bleeding) and at some points I did have hemorrhoid’s but the majority of my bleeding wasn’t from that. My doctor’s swore in no way could the birth control pill make me bleed like that but if I stopped my pills, it stopped and started again when it was taking the pill again. Since I stopped for good and got pregnant, that hasn’t been an issue at all. I had a rectal exam at the time of this and they couldn’t find a reason; no hemorrhoid, no fissure, light colored blood (so no flag for something super serious).
But because of that… I’m just so irritated about dealing with this. I know I have a hemorrhoid this time and it’s not bulging or anything but it is painful. Sometimes it bleeds a little, sometimes not (never a lot) but it is usually painful. The last bowel movement I had was extremely painful; I figured if I could do that, birthing a child should be no big deal. I don’t really know what to do. I talked to my mom about this and she said I should just call the doctor. I’m going to call but I’m wondering because somebody has to have some insight.
What will honestly help? What could the doctor even suggest? Anything, please?

Hemorrhoids suck – no doubt about that. However, they are a common occurance with pregnancy. You can use topical ointment – those are safe during pregnancy. I would also try some colace (also safe to take during pregnancy per my doctor) as they relieve constipation and the need to push so hard during a bowel movement. Go with the lowest dosage of colace – you can get it at CVS or your local drug store and try some preparation H and some cold compresses. Sometimes a warm (not hot!) bath can help ease pain, but never take a hot bath as it can engorge those blood vessels and make it worse. Good luck honey – I’m sorry, I know it’s not fun. Just stick it through and they should lessen after you give birth.

I had one because I broke my tailbone years ago. Have you ever broken your tailbone?

You could try an OTC ointment for it like Preparation H to soothe it. Also, drinking tons of water helps a LOT! If you’re really worried and have had medical complications, seeing a doctor might be your best bet. It never hurts to drink a ton of water, though. Good luck!
