I stopped drinking soda and switched to water, now I’m getting hemorrhoids?
I been drinking soda for 5-6 years and about 4 weeks ago I stopped cold, and started drinking water only. Now I am getting hemorrhoids, I didn’t change my diet beside this. Would this be the reason I am getting them? I used to drink dr.pepper and thinking about going back to drinking soda because hemorrhoids suck!
That sounds very logical Sleddog, thanks!

The only thing I can think of is that your body is getting rid of all of the toxins that were stored due to drinking soda pop. Get a bottle of Mylanta when you go, end the session with some Mylanta or Maalox for your pootie.
This is a very good question…

probably just a shock to your system from the sudden change, talk to a doctor and maybe get some pain meds or something.

There’s no connection between drinking soda & rhoids. It was just a coincidence. Many family physicians can give a simple steroid suppository that will reduce the inflammation easily w/o any surgical intervention.

I don’t know about the cause but the soda caused more damage to your system than the water ever will.

yes this could be the reason when you drink something for a long time and just stop with no warning to your body something can/will happen you need to give your body a warning and casually stop not just stop

as if that’s the cause of your hemorrhoids. water. haha. If you drank pop for 5 years, you may have been eating unhealthy like junk food. Perhaps spices? Yeah, if you go back to drinking soda, you’ll get further health issues. You should go see a doctor to make sure it’s not more serious, maybe ask them whether its bc of water but prepare to be laughed at. You need vitamins. By the sounds of it, you’re not getting enough.

the hemorrhoids were probably not brought on by the change, but by the stress the change caused to your system. Keep up with what you’re doing, but make the change gradually, so your body can adjust and be stress and hemorrhoid free.
If you drink sods 4 times a week, for a week switch one of those times to water. the next week? Two of those times to water. Your body can cope better this way, and you’ll be more likely to stick with it.

It’s not the soda, but the caffeine in the soda that set you up for the hemmies. Caffeine acts as a bowel stimulant. You get habituated to having a laxative in your soda. Then when you stopped the caffeine you became constipated and that’s what is causing the hemmies.
If you don’t wish to take up caffeine again via green tea, coffee, or more soda, you can get help by using a stool softener which can include a laxative or not. You also can take milk of magnesia daily until your system gets used to not having the stimulation of cafffeine.
Check the pharmacy section at Walmart for cheap stool softener and store brand milk of mag. Give your body some time to make the adjustment. Also be sure to eat enough fiber in your diet and drink plenty of water.

It’s probably unrelated. There are a bunch of reasons you can get hemorrhoids. This really isn’t one of them.
