That depends on how big the hemorrhoid is. Most will retreat with OTC preparations, step one. Then she might need to see her Physician get some stronger preparations, step 2. Surgery is step 3. I do not know if your Aunt has children, as this can be one of the problems of giving birth. Therefore she might of have hemorrhoids for years and now they are starting to cause problems. Good Luck

I would say to try first with natural treatment like Rue Care Oil – it also helped in very serious cases of hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoids usually don’t just go away. The symptoms can disappear from time to time – depends on the cause of hemorrhoid. However, the swollen, inflamed vein is still there, and needs treatment. Many times the symptoms disappear (pain, itching, bleeding), and the hemorrhoid is just "sitting quite", waiting to be triggered by something, like hot (spicy) food, hard stool, just to break out in a much bigger form than it was in the first place.
It is also important to figure out what is causing the hemorrhoid (constipation, overweight, acid/alkaline imbalance, sitting/standing for extended periods of time, Vitamin B6 deficiency, irritable bowel syndrome, fatigue liver..) and treat this as well.
