Vanella</a> I assume it is because the external hemorrhoid tissue has nerves and the banding could be quite painful/easily infected. For those wondering about what happens when banding doesn't work - I just had tissue removed that was banded a year ago. It actually turned out that the doctor didn't band a hemorrhoid but tissue that was supposed to be there! Anyway, since the tissue didn't die, they had to remove the tissue by incising it. Not fun! @M. Vanella

For those wondering about what happens when banding doesn’t work – I just had tissue removed that was banded a year ago. It actually turned out that the doctor didn’t band a hemorrhoid but tissue that was supposed to be there! Anyway, since the tissue didn’t die, they had to remove the tissue by incising it. Not fun!
