Should I go to the hospital if my hemorrhoid has been bleeding for over 24 hours now?
I got a hemorrhoid the other day and it has been painful however yesterday night after I had a bowel movement I noticed my pants were bleeding. Not paying it much attention I covered it thinking it would go away however it continued to bleed slowly but enough throughout the day. I went to the doctor today and he gave me cream and wants me to see a specialist. I am concerned about the amount of blood loss. It is not a real lot but it is still bleeding enough to cover a tissue. What should I do?

You have to lose a lot of blood to cause major problems. You may be sitting and moving around so your wound cannot form a blood clot. Use the cream your doctor gave you, and also heat therapy such as a heating pad would help you heal faster. Normal sit bath (sitting in warm water 5 times a day) would not be the best choice for you since you have open wound and still bleeding. Remember, hemorrhoid is hard to heal. It takes time.

Anytime anyone has bleeding from any orifice of the body, they should seek assistance from their Physician. Your Physician will be much cheaper than going to the Emergency Room at the Hospital and even though you need to seek assistance immediately, this type of thing is non life threatening.

Ring your doctor again and explain that you have had steady blood loss since you last saw him with no relief from the cream.
Although it’s only a small ouze you need to get it nipped in the bud to prevent further problems

Hi Mark,
I know how you feel. My wife had hemorrhoids some years ago. Unfortunately her doctor convinced her to go for surgery, as if that was the only alternative.
The cream the doctor gave you will not stop the bleed or even improve your hemorrhoids. Go ahead and make the appointment with the specialist and in the meantime check out the resource below that will give you more information about your hemorrhoids and how to manage it.

I think you should see a doctor if you are concerned. However, a natural hemorrhoid cure could be a good idea for you, when the bleeding stopped. Check this site:
