What are hemorrhoids, am I in trouble?

I went to the doctor two days ago and she said I have a very mild case of hemorrhoids. The pain I feel is itching and tenderness in that spot between the anus and the vaginal entrance. I am 29 and didnt think I could get hemorrhoids. She told me to use Peporation H. I have been using it and it releives the itch and pain very shortly, but when I go to the bathroom and wipe, I still feel the pain and itch all the way. How long should it take to clear up?

Hemorrhoids are also known as piles. It is nothing but swelling and inflammation that occur in the veins present in the rectum and anus. A person suffering from it may suffer severe pain during bowel movements. Hemorrhoids can be a result of constipation caused by bowel movements. Obesity can cause cause in the rectal vein and then cause hemorrhoids. Cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption can also cause bleeding of veins in the rectum area and cause hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids are temporary conditions that can heal within few days.It is advisable to take warm baths, use a bidet, cold compress, etc to get relief.

Hemorrhoids are like varicose veins in your bum. Rarely do they ultimately go away on their own. More likely they get bigger, and you get them removed. Laser surgery is possible, but kind of a big deal. Believe it or not what they do instead is simpler; they put the equivalent of a tiny tourniquet on them, at which point they shrivel up and fall off… sounds gross I know but it’s true.

In the mean time, you hear all those commercials about fiber? Well, that’s why. Adding a healthy dose of fiber to your diet makes going to the loo easier and more efficient. Not having enough fiber makes your anus work overtime and strain, which can be the cause of ‘roids… (Straining mightily during childbirth causes them often as well – same kind of "push" but a lot more strenuous)

In order to get rid of hemorrhoids for good, you need to tackle the root cause of the problem, ie, why did you get them in the first place?

A high fiber diet can help but can take up to 2 weeks before seeing good results. Eat more fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains and drink at least 6-8 glasses of plain water daily to help digest all the fiber. And prunes are helpful too.
