I work for a GENERAL SURGEON and we see patients routinely for hemorrhoidal issues; whether they require surgery intervention or simply a prescription medicine treatment.
You can start with your regualr family doctor; especially if your insurance requires you to have a referral to see a "specialist". Otherwise you should be able to see a general surgeon at your leisure. Remember, though, that surgery is your last resort....you should try to treat things conservatively first. And, also a note: Not all issues related to the anus/rectum are always hemorrhoids.....there are other possibilities such as a rectal fissure, a rectal fistula...
But, only a trained specialist would be able to determine this upon examination. So go ahead and make an appointment, recetifying the situation may be easier than you think.

Your GP or a Gastro Dr. You can get a colonoscopy done and see just how bad they are to decide on the treatment.
Good Luck!!

I would go to my general doctor first and see what he/she has to say, they will direct you in the right direction. If you can not afford a doctor see a pharmacist as they have over the counter medication and get more fiber in your diet as straining on a bowel movement causes severe pain.

General practice will help you or direct you to a proctologist. This process will cost you a lot of consulting money.

If you're sure or have some hemorrhoid symptoms, use this. http://www.venapro.com/?aid=407758
