A hemorrhoid is a vein that becomes dilated and blows up in size and becomes very sensitive to pain. What happens to it depends on how you treat it. With medicine from the doctor it is a steroid that causes the roid to shrink down in size to the point where it will not bother you. Even over the counter stuff has a steroid that shrinks the roid but it is a steroid that is weaker than the prescription stuff. If you are using these you should use the suppository and the external cream because you have more roids inside your rectum you don’t know about. Another way to go is a treatment where they put a rubberband around the hemorrhoid and it cuts off the circulation of the
roid and it will eventually die. They can also do a surgical removal where they simply take a scalpel and cut them off.
