will my hemorrhoid eventually go away on its own?

I’m embarrassed to go to my doctor about it .. and i know creams just get rid of the itch and burn. Will it eventually just go away?

Oh yes – hemorrhoids will dry up after a while. Usually people only go to the doctor with those when they’re pretty horrible. Get some Witch Hazel – it’s cheap – use lots. You’ll find that it’s an ingredient in Preparation H. But Preparation H doesn’t work very well. Witch Hazel is great – wash the area as often as you like with it – it’s very soothing. It’s also an astringent – it shrinks things – it’s an herb called Hammamalis, I think. Nice stuff.

Also, put some Witch Hazel on a piece of toilet paper and cram it up next to that hemorrhoid and hold it there. You can walk around with it. It really takes the sting out of those things.

And to prevent them later – really limit the time you spend on the john – no reading. And no holding your breath and pushing (Valsalva Maneuver) – it builds up the blood pressure a LOT and dumps it right onto the hemorrhoidal veins – they break – and you have a sore butt. And try to limit real heavy lifting too.

However – if you’re really in horrible pain, you can screw up your courage and go to the doctor – they deal with these all the time. And mostly, they just make a little cut in these and the blood clot comes out – and you feel so much better. But you will reabsorb that blood clot on your own in a week or so.

If it is small it may reduce on it’s own, however, if it is large and develops a clot you then have a thrombosed hemorrhoid which will need lanced.

1: Doctors dont care. They see it all the time.
2: If you dont tell a doctor you might lose your fertility

I guarantee your doctor has experienced patients with far more embarrassing problems than hemorrhoid :D Don’t worry about it! And that’s correct…if it’s small it may just heal on its own (just don’t do anything that would irritate it, like excessive sitting, etc.)
